"My daughter was diagnosed with ADHD when she was 5 years old. I refused to medicate her and was told about an alternative which would be Rolfing and was directed to call John B. Since she has been receiving treatments she has made great strides. She used to have a stand-up desk in school as she could not sit still or focus. She has now been moved in to a regular desk and is able to sit still much longer. I have had compliments from her prior year teachers at how much she has developed in the last year and how much progress she has made with being able to hold a conversation and stay focused on it. She still struggles with focus but I believe that she is responding well to the treatment she is receiving and look forward to continue working with John until I feel we have achieved the results we are looking for." --M.V.
Global treatments (treating everything head-to-toe) are in the patient's best interest. Case in point: A colleague worked on a patient's sore shoulder for the better part of a year--no significant change, and therapy was discontinued. A year later, the patient called again to say that during the past year she had been in the hospital for three entire months due to a lung issue! The moral of the story: because treatments were limited to the painful shoulder (the patient's wishes) and not to the real issue--the lung problem that was causing the shoulder...yes, shoulder issues are 50% thorax (chest) and 50% the joint itself--the patient had to endure a long hospital stay.
